Introducing the new ‘Ginger Lovin Local’ Scheme for the 2016 Irish Redhead Convention
The 7th annual Irish Redhead Convention will take place in Crosshaven on 19-21 August 2016. As discussed at a public meeting back in February, parts of the village square will have controlled access for health and safety reasons this year to help with crowd control. To access this area complete with live music, traders, kids-zone, and much more, people will need to register for the event either as a genuine redhead or a member of the ginger appreciation community. To reduce the expense for locals who want to join in the foxy fun and celebrate the influx of redheads to our village, we’re introducing a ginger lovin local scheme.
You can pick up your ginger lovin local badge now from a number of retail outlets in the village by making a minimum donation of 2 euro. We would encourage you to act quickly as the badges will be taken off the shelves a week before the event kicks off. Wearing this badge over the weekend will allow you to access all areas and show those visiting what a friendly and welcoming community Crosshaven is. Money raised will help us to cover the cost of running this unique event, which has become a flagship attraction in the annual Crosshaven calendar. All those who buy a badge as part of this local crowd-funding scheme will be invited to a Thank You party the week after the convention and will be eligible to win a number of great raffle prizes there.
Details of the programme and event layout can be found online at: www.redheadconvention.com.
We have a number of loyal volunteers who enable this event to go ahead every year. However, we are actively looking for more local volunteers to help out over the weekend with things like parking and traffic management, stewarding, RED-istration, and kids-zone activities.
